The A.G.G.E. label

The label gives value to a third-party entity — facility, training programme, diploma, product — by certifying that this entity meets the association’s standard.

Principles

A label with no owner

The label itself has no market value and belongs to no one. It is managed by the A.G.G.E. association, in Switzerland, which retains final arbitration.

Certification through audit

An entity is labelled at the end of a certification procedure, which consists in verifying that it complies with all the best practices in the specifications.

A living body of knowledge

The college of experts updates the body of practices dynamically; the label follows the evolution of knowledge in geriatrics and gerontology.

A Swiss standard, adaptable

The label does not leave Switzerland. It is adapted to each country, with a single authorised representative per territory; a local certification with mutual recognition may be created on the same model.

What the label covers

  • Services to older people: assistance, care, quality of the environment, respect for the person’s physical, psychological and social autonomy.
  • Facility management: organisation, procurement, safety, nutrition, medication policy.
  • Architecture and interior layout of facilities.
  • Training programmes and professional diplomas.
  • Products and new technologies applied to home care or to residents of institutions.

The certification procedure

  1. Request

The facility contacts the association or one of its accredited consulting partners.

  2. Audit

Internal audit (questionnaire followed by consistency checks) or audit by external auditors trained by A.G.G.E.

  3. Support

Before, during or after the audit, A.G.G.E. consultants help the facility to remedy unsatisfactory points.

  4. Decision

The college of experts decides whether or not to award the label on the basis of the audit report.

  5. Follow-up

The labelled facility is entered in the association’s register; an annual fee funds the association and the upkeep of the body of practices.

Ethical commitment

A.G.G.E. promotes strict ethical values. The remuneration of an intermediary or business introducer may under no circumstances exceed 10% of a service; any contrary practice breaches the label, and the association refuses to be party to it.
